The Mission Committee is responsible for promoting, coordinating, and implementing local, national, and international mission projects to fulfill the Great Commission and foster community outreach. It educates the congregation, manages mission funds/budget, and connects church members to service opportunities.
Core Responsibilities
- Mission Promotion: educating the congregation about missions through education, speakers, studies, and worship services.
- Project Coordination: organizing local, national, and international mission trips and volunteer projects.
- Budget Management: overseeing mission-related budget, benevolence giving, and supporting covenant missionaries.
- Outreach & Partnerships: connecting with organizations, agencies, and the community to support needs such as food pantries or disaster relief.
- Evaluation: reviewing and reporting on the impact of mission projects.
Current Events
Mission Moment for February, March & April 2026. February marks the start of Lent with Ash Wednesday on February 18th. This year the Missions Committee is doing a Lenten Coin Calendar for February, March and April (February 18, 2026 to April 4, 2026). Missions also sponsored a meal at the Pine Bluffs Senior Center on February 5th.
Past Events
Mission Moment for January 2026 was the collection of canned food and non-perishables for donating to Pine Bluff's local food pantry. The adult congregation challenged the youths to a friendly competition to see who could donate the most items in pounds, the winner getting a pizza party after Worship on February 8th. This Mission Moment came to an end on Sunday, February 1st when the donations were weighed and totaled up. Total donations weighed in at 312 pounds with our kids coming out on top with 172 pounds. The adults ended up donating 140 pounds, which is really good too. The below picture shows (left to right) Mark, PB Food Pantry volunteer, Sue Maxted, Missions Chair and Lisa Heinert, Missions Member as they drop off the donations. Special thanks to the Heinert Family for bringing in the scale.
